With the end of 2024 just around the corner, we have taken a look back at the top card releases of the year to compile a 2024 Top 10 Pokémon Cards.
The year 2024 began with the January release of Paldean Fates, the second special set of the Scarlet and Violet Series. The year continued with the release of Temporal Forces in March, Twilight Masquerade in May, Shrouded Fable in August, Stellar Crown in September and Surging Sparks in November.
We have ordered cards by their value at time of set release but have included December 2024 prices for comparison.
Top 10 Pokémon Cards 2024
10. Iono – 237/091 – Paldean Fates
At number 10 in our list is Iono Special Illustration Rare card depicting Paldean Gym Leader and influencer Iono. She is depicted wearing her usual clothing of an oversized yellow, pink and blue top with large blue and pink baubles in her hair. She is sitting at a table with an ice cream sundae, while Mismagius and Bellibolt can be seen behind her.

This Special Illustration Rare Card depicts the front half of Fezandipiti standing with its head bowed down against a background of orange and black.

8. Pecharunt ex – 093/064 – Shrouded Fable
This Special Illustration Rare card depicting Pecharunt ex, takes eighth place in our list. Pecharunt is depicted attached to two pink chains and surrounded by many more.

7. Mew ex – 232/091 – Paldean Fates
This Special Illustration Rare Card, Mew ex is placed seventh in our Top 10 Pokémon cards 2024. The simplistic artwork style of this card gives it an iconic feel. Mew is depicted in a bubble, surrounded by white stars, floating above a lake on a grassy hill. In the background are yellow cliffs and blue sky with white clouds.

6. Greninja ex – 214/167 – Twilight Masquerade
Sixth spot goes to Special Illustration Rare card 214/167. The card depicts Greninja ex in terastalized form. It is depicted in the centre of a riot of red, orange and yellow splashes.

5. Latias ex – 239/191 – Surging Sparks
Latias, the female counterpart of Latios takes fifth place in our list. This Special Illustration Rare card depicts Latias in close-up flying over the town that is depicted in the bottom right corner of the Latios card (position 8). The town below is bathed in orange / red light.

4. Terapagos ex – 170/142 – Stellar Crown
Fourth place in our Top 10 Pokémon cards 2024 goes to Special Illustration Rare Terapagos ex 170/142. This beautiful card depicts Terapagos in Stellar Tera form surrounded by coloured crystals deep inside a cave. The cave walls are covered in crystals.

3. Charizard ex – 234/091 – Paldean Fates
Popular Pokémon Charizard takes our third place spot. This Special Illustration Rare card shows Charizard depicted in terastalized form with wings outstretched. The card boasts an impressive 330 HP and includes the attack Burning Darkness which inflicts a minimum of 180 damage. The stunning artwork as well as the playability of the card ensured it was popular with both players and collectors alike.

2. Cassiopeia – 094/064 – Shrouded Fable
Position number 2 goes to the only Trainer card in our list. This card appears to take the viewer behind a computer screen, looking out through the on-screen text at Cassiopeia as she types lines of code. She is joined by a small Sylveon to her left.

1. Pikachu ex – 238/191 – Surging Sparks
Top spot on our 2024 Top 10 Pokémon Cards goes to Pikachu ex Special Illustration Rare 238/191. The popular Pokémon is depicted in Stellar Tera form standing on a patch of grass strewn with yellow foliage against a blinding white sky.
