Steelix Pokédex Information
Steelix is a Steel / Ground type Pokémon that first appeared in the games Pokémon Gold and Silver which were released in Japan in November 1999. It evolves from Onix.
It is a very long character that is based on a snake. In regular form it is comprised of a number of grey shapes that resemble rocks. Some of the segments have spikes radiating to either side and its tail ends in a point. It has a huge head with a large jaw and sharp white teeth. It can evolve to Mega form with Steelixite.
In Mega form it is even longer and heavier. The segments that make up its body are more rounded and resemble metal nuts. Its head is semi-circular with flat plates protruding from its lower jaw. The spikey protrusions from its body have become diamond-like and show the colours of the rainbow when light passes through. A number of thin shiny pieces of metal radiate around its neck. Steelix lives even further underground than Onix. This Pokémon is known to dig toward the earth’s core. There are records of this Pokémon reaching a depth of over six-tenths of a mile underground.
