What are Recycle Energy Cards?
Recycle Energy Cards are Special Energy Cards that are used in the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG). They were first introduced in 2000 with the launch of the Neo Genesis expansion set and last seen in the Unified Minds set of 2019.

Recycle Energy cards provide one Colorless Energy. They also allow players to return the card to their hand rather than the Discard Pile. There has only been one design for these cards and it includes the Colorless Energy symbol. (Scroll to bottom for timeline and gallery of all cards released to date).
In the Pokémon TCG, a player can only use an Attack Move if the specified number of Energy are attached. This specified number generally includes one or more Energy that corresponds to the Pokémon type, and / or a number of Colorless Energy. Recycle Energy Cards provide one Colorless Energy.
Recycle Energy Cards Text:
The text on all cards is roughly the same but there was a minor change to the text for the Unified Minds release. Listed below are two different texts seen on the cards in order of release.
2000 Neo Genesis release
‘Recycle Energy provides Colorless Energy. (Doesn’t count as a basic Energy card.) If this card is put into your discard pile from play, return it to your hand.’
2019 Unified Minds release
This card provides Colorless Energy.
If this card is discarded from play, put it into your hand instead of the discard pile.
