What are Multi Energy Cards?
Multi Energy Cards are Special Energy Cards that are used in the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG). They were first introduced in 2003 with the launch of the Sandstorm expansion set and last seen in the Mysterious Treasures set of 2008.

Multi Energy cards provide one Colorless Energy when attached to a Pokémon that already has a Special Energy attached. When attached to an Active Pokémon it provides one of any type of Energy. Although a number of these cards has been released, they all have the same design which includes the Colorless Energy symbol. In the Pokémon TCG, a player can only use an Attack Move if the specified number of Energy are attached. This specified number generally includes one or more Energy that corresponds to the Pokémon type, and / or a number of Colorless Energy. Multi Energy Cards provide one Colorless Energy.
Multi Energy Cards Text:
The text on all cards is roughly the same but there was a minor changes to the text with EX Emerald release. Listed below are two different texts seen on the cards in order of release.
2003 Sandstorm release
‘Attach Multi Energy to 1 of your Pokémon. While in play, Multi Energy provides every type of Energy but provides only 1 Energy at a time. (Doesn’t count as a basic Energy card when not in play.) Multi Energy provides Energy when attached to a Pokémon that already has Special Energy cards attached to it.’
2005 EX Emerald release
‘Attach Multi Energy to 1 of your Pokémon. While in play, Multi Energy provides every type of Energy but provides only 1 Energy at a time. (Has no effect other than providing Energy.) Multi Energy provides Energy when attached to a Pokémon that already has Special Energy cards attached to it..’
