What are Holon Energy WP Cards?

Holon Energy WP Cards are Special Energy Cards that are used in the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG). The WP refers to Water and Psychic Energy as these cards provide special effects when combined with Water or Psychic Energy. They were first introduced in 2005 with the launch of the EX Deoxys expansion set and last seen in the EX Dragon Frontiers set of 2006. Holon Energy WP cards were released alongside Holon Energy FF and Holon Energy GL Cards.

Holon Energy WP cards provide one Colorless Energy. However if the Pokémon already has a Water Energy attached, it prevents all effects apart from damage. If the Pokémon already has a Psychic Energy attached, then its retreat cost is 0. There is only one design for this card and it includes the Colorless Energy symbol. In the Pokémon TCG, a player can only use an Attack Move if the specified number of Energy are attached. This specified number generally includes one or more Energy that corresponds to the Pokémon type, and / or a number of Colorless Energy. Holon Energy WP Cards provide one Colorless Energy.

The text on the cards reads:

‘Holon Energy GL provides Colorless Energy.
If the Pokémon that Holon Energy WP is attached to also has a basic Energy card attached to it, prevent all effects, excluding damage, done to that Pokémon by your opponent’s Pokémon. If the Pokémon that Holon Energy WP is attached to also has a basic Energy card attached to it, that Pokémon’s Retreat Cost is 0. Ignore these effects if Holon Energy WP is attached to Pokémon-ex.’
