What is the Charizard ex Super Premium Collection?
The Charizard ex Super Premium Collection release date has been announced for 4th October 2024. It is the first Charizard ex Super Premium Collection box to be released and has a recommended retail price of £74.99 in the UK and $79.99 in the US.
The box is cuboid shaped and measures 20.8 x 24.9 x 22.4 cm. The box features a repeating vertical pattern of flames reflecting Charizard’s Fire type. Yellow markings surround cut-out sections and the front edges.
The text on the back of the box reads:
‘Charizard Guards Your Favorite Card!
With explosive attacks and huge HP, Charizard ex has a commanding presence on the battlefield! Is the Charizard ex Super Premium Collection Value for Money?
Any product with Charizard as the hero is likely to be popular with collectors and fans alike. Single Booster Packs generally retail for £4in the UK, $4 in the US. From the image the figure appears to be made of plastic which would give it a value of between £10 – £20 / $10 – $20. The ex Promo card is not a full art so may fetch £4 / $4, while the Charmander and Charmeleon cards are holo rares and unlikely to be worth more than £2 / $2.
The box includes 10 booster packs, worth around £40 / $40. Adding in the mid-point estimate for the figurine and the estimated value of the promo cards gives a total valuation of £63 / $63 which is quite a bit lower than the recommended retail price, suggesting that the box is not value for money.
However, for those that can resist opening the box, the Charizard ex Super Premium Collection also offers a good investment opportunity. Charizard is a very popular Pokémon and any product in which it features is likely to increase in value over time.
