As 2022 comes to a close, we have taken a look back at the top card releases to compile a 2022 Top 10 Pokémon Cards.
2022 was the third year of the Sword and Shield Series and saw the release of 5 expansion sets – Brilliant Stars, Astral Radiance, Pokémon Go, Lost Origin and Silver Tempest. Across the 5 sets more than 1,000 cards were released including 200 Ultra and Secret Rare and 120 Trainer Gallery Cards.
Listed below are our 2022 Top 10 Pokémon cards based on their popularity, value and artwork.

10. Rayquaza VMAX – TG20/TG30 – Silver Tempest
At number 10 in our list is Rayquaza VMAX, a Trainer Gallery card from the Silver Tempest expansion set. The artist adopts a viewpoint beneath this 7m long dragon Pokémon, looking up at a fiery red and purple sky. At the time of release the card was selling on Ebay UK for around £50 and Ebay.com for around $65. Over the month since release it has lost value slightly, retailing for around £40 on Ebay UK and $50 on Ebay.com.
9. Aerodactyl V – 180/196 – Lost Origin
Soaring over a river flanked by green fields with a smoking volcano in the background, Aerodactyl V secures ninth position in our 2022 Top 10 Pokémon Cards. On release in September 2022 it was selling on Ebay UK for £70 and Ebay.com for $100. Over three months it has seen a slight increase in price and is available on Ebay UK for around £80 and on Ebay.com for around $110.
8. Arceus V – 166/172 – Brilliant Stars
The Creator Arceus is a fan-favourite Pokémon. The Brilliant Stars depiction of Arceus high above the clouds radiating light, secures this card 8th place. At the time of release, February 2022, it was selling on Ebay UK for £120 and Ebay.com for $125. It has seen a marked decline in price over the year and is now selling on Ebay UK for around £40 and on Ebay.com for around $45.
7. Unown V – 177/195 – Silver Tempest
The Alternate Art Unown V is the second card from the Silver Tempest Set to make our list. The artwork, which depicts a number of Unown above a landscape of Egyptian-style houses with palm trees, sand and a vivid blue sky, makes this a striking card. At time of release the card could be purchased on Ebay UK for around £85 and Ebay.com for around $90. The value of this card has dropped significantly over the month since release and in December 2022 can be purchased for around £40 on Ebay UK and $45 on Ebay.com
6. Beedrill V – 161/189 – Astral Radiance
Our sixth spot goes to Beedrill V, from the Astral Radiance Expansion. The detailed artwork shows a swarm of Beedrill flying over a huge field of flowers . One week before set release, May 2022, this card was selling on Ebay UK for £85 and Ebay.com for $83. In December 2022 it can be purchased for £30 on Ebay UK and $35.
5. Mewtwo VSTAR – 086/078 – Pokémon Go
Fifth place in our 2022 Top 10 Pokémon Cards goes to the Gold Secret Rare Mewtwo VSTAR from the Pokémon Go Expansion. Mewtwo is a popular Pokemon and the set mascot for the Pokémon Go TCG. The artwork depicts a close-up view of Mewtwo with a viewpoint that suggests it is bursting out of the card. On the morning of set release it was available on Ebay UK for around £100 and on Ebay.com for $120. Four months later in December 2022 it can be bought for around £40 on Ebay UK and $35 on Ebay.com.
4. Lugia V – 186/195 – Silver Tempest
Fourth place in our list goes to the third card from Silver Tempest. Alternate Art Lugia V takes a low viewpoint and depicts a trainer looking up atf ull flight Lugia set against a stormy sky. Two days before set release it was selling on Ebay UK for around £300 and Ebay.com for $400. In December 2022 it can be bought for around £170 on Ebay UK and for around $200.
3. Charizard V – 154/172 – Brilliant Stars
Our third place spot is taken by Charizard V Alternate Art card from the Brilliant Stars expansion. The artwork for this card is stunning and features a close-up depiction of Charizard in attack-mode with Venusaur in the background. One week prior to release in February 2022, the card was selling on Ebay UK for around £200 and on Ebay.com for around $180. Over the year it has seen a small drop but is still fetching around £150 on Ebay UK and $160 on Ebay.com.
2. Mewtwo V – 072/078 – Pokémon Go
The Pokémon Go Set released in July 2022 and was eagerly anticipated by fans of the TCG. The Mewtwo V card from the set takes second place in our list. In keeping with the Pokémon Go Game, the card depicts the set mascot, Mewtwo in a realism city landscape surrounded by skyscraper buildings. At time of release it was selling for £120 on Ebay UK and $140 on Ebay.com. In December 2022 the price has dropped and it can be purchased for around £35 on Ebay UK and $30 on Ebay.com.
1. Giratina V – 186/196 – Lost Origin
First place on our 2022 Top 10 Pokémon Cards goes to the Lost Origin Alternate Art Giratina V. The set mascot Giratina is set against a multi-coloured, intricately patterned, backdrop. At time of release in September 2022, it was available for around £175 on Ebay UK and $200 on Ebay.com. Its price has increased slightly and in December 2022 can be purchased for around £200 on Ebay UK and $220 on Ebay.com.
